Guwahati Regional Center

The eco-dynamics of wetlands spread over the floodplains of Ganga-brahmaputra basins are being studied by this center in order to evolve management norms for their sustainable development. The wetlands associated with the floodplains of Ganga and Brahmaputra rivers are not only unique in their rich biodiversity, but also constitute an important fishery resource in the states of Bihar, West Bengal and Assam. The Division carries out research on the ecosystem processes and fish productivity from this resource with special attention on protection of biodiversity and development of environment-friendly technologies.
