ICAR-CIFRI Takes the Message of Integrity to the Community through Human Chain and Walkathon
27th October 2026 Barrackpore
Reinforcing the message that integrity is the foundation of good governance and national prosperity, the ICAR–Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute (ICAR-CIFRI), Barrackpore, organised a human chain followed by a walkathon in Manirampore and its adjoining areas on 27 October 2026 as part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2026. Observed under the theme “Probity for Prosperity,” the initiative sought to take the message of honesty, transparency and accountability beyond institutional boundaries and into the wider community.
Led by Dr. Pradip Dey, Director, ICAR-CIFRI, and coordinated by Dr. D.K. Meena, IVO, the program witnessed enthusiastic participation by the institute’s employees, who joined hands to demonstrate their collective resolve against corruption. The human chain symbolised unity and shared responsibility in upholding ethical values, while the walkathon carried the message of vigilance awareness to the local community, encouraging citizens to recognise their role in building a transparent and accountable society.
Dr Dey emphasised that combating corruption is a collective responsibility that calls for commitment from public institutions, employees and citizens alike. He highlighted the adverse consequences of corruption for institutional credibility, public trust and national development, stressing that integrity, fairness and accountability must remain central to the functioning of every public organisation.
Reiterating the significance of the theme “Probity for Prosperity,”DrDey urged employees to discharge their official duties with honesty, impartiality and dedication to public service. He underscored the importance of the judicious and transparent utilisation of public resources and called for fostering an institutional culture in which ethical conduct is reflected in everyday decisions and actions.
Scientists, technical, administrative and supporting staff, Research Associates (RAs), Senior Research Fellows (SRFs) and Young Professionals (YPs) participated in the programme.
Through this public outreach initiative, ICAR-CIFRI reaffirmed its commitment to promoting ethical governance, strengthening vigilance awareness and nurturing a culture of integrity in public service. The programme conveyed a clear message: probity is not merely an institutional obligation; it is a shared commitment essential for public confidence, institutional excellence and national prosperity.
