Reaffirming its commitment to ethical governance, transparency and accountability in public service, the ICAR–Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute (ICAR-CIFRI), Barrackpore, observed Vigilance Awareness Week 2026 from 27 October to 2 November 2026 under the theme “Probity for Prosperity.” The week-long observance featured a series of awareness programmes, competitions and community outreach initiatives aimed at promoting integrity, strengthening public trust and sensitizing employees and citizens to their collective responsibility in preventing corruption. The observance commenced on 27 October 2026 with the administration of the vigilance pledge to the staff and other participants at the Institute, while personnel from its regional centres joined the programme virtually. Posters, banners and placards bearing messages on integrity, transparency and the fight against corruption were prominently displayed across the Institute campus to reinforce the importance of ethical conduct and probity in public life. Taking the message of integrity beyond the institutional premises, employees organized a human chain on 28 October, symbolizing their collective commitment to combating corruption. This was followed by a walkathon to Monirampore and BattalaGhat, during which participants interacted with local residents and disseminated messages on the importance of honesty, transparency and vigilance in everyday life. A drawing competition was also organized for Institute employees as part of the awareness campaign.

The momentum of the observance continued with a series of competitions designed to encourage active participation and reflection on ethical values. An extempore speech competition was organized on 29 October, followed by quiz and essay competitions on 30 October. Students from PM SHRI KendriyaVidyalaya and Central Model School, Barrackpore, participated enthusiastically in these activities. Their involvement highlighted the importance of nurturing integrity, ethical values and social responsibility among the younger generation. The week-long observance culminated in a valedictory programme on 2 November 2026. Dr. D. K. Dr.Deycalled upon all employees to embrace vigilance not merely as a regulatory obligation but as an institutional ethos and a continuous commitment towards building a transparent, responsive and performance-driven organization.

The winners of various competitions were felicitated with cash prizes and certificates in recognition of their performance and active participation. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks proposed by Dr. M. Shaya Devi, Scientist,ICAR-CIFRI.
