The staff members of ICAR-CIFRI, Barrackpore observed Quami Ekta(National integration) Week during 19-25 November, 2017. A pledge on the theme of secularism, anti communalism and non-violence was taken by all the staff members on 19 th November, 2017 under the guidance of the Dr. B. K. Das, Director of the institute. An awareness meeting was organised on 22.11.2017 in order to foster, sensitize and reinforce the spirit of communal harmony and national integration. Poster was displayed in different locations depicting the need of maintaining communal harmony to sensitize the staff to preserve national integrity on 24 th November, 2017. Institute observed Communal harmony Flag Day on 24 th November 2017. On the occasion, fund raising campaign was organized involving volunteers for physical and psychological support of the orphan or destitute children affected by violence. On the occasions, sensitization and awareness was created among the staffs, research scholars, students and all other contractual staffs regarding empowerment of women, communal harmony, language and cultural diversity in Indian society and its role in Nation building. The staff members of Institute have actively participated and expressed their views on this occasion. Concluding programme was organised on 25 th November, 2017 on the theme of Conservation to emphasize the growing need for awareness and action to conserve the environment, culture, language and traditional knowledge etc.
