Dr. Archan Kanti Das Honoured with Prof. Hiralal Chaudhury Gold Medal

Dr. Archan Kanti Das, Principal Scientist at ICAR-CIFRI, Barrackpore, Kolkata, has been conferred with the prestigious Prof. Hiralal Chaudhury Gold Medal by the Inland Fisheries Society of India (IFSI), Barrackpore. The award was presented during the Indian Fisheries Outlook 2 held at the College of Fisheries, Rengeilunda, Gopalpur, Berhampur, Odisha.
Instituted in honour of the legendary fishery scientist Prof. Hiralal Chaudhury, this is the most coveted award of IFSI—an esteemed professional society of inland fisheries established in 1969 at ICAR-CIFRI. It is conferred upon senior scientists (45 years and above) in the field of fisheries and aquaculture, following a thorough evaluation of their scientific credentials and an oral presentation before a high-level committee.
With over 32 years of dedicated service in inland fisheries research and development, Dr. Das has significantly contributed to the upliftment of fishers and fish farmers across India. His passion for reaching the unreached and translating science into livelihood solutions has been widely acknowledged. This honour reflects not only his personal excellence but also brings pride to ICAR-CIFRI, recognizing the impactful work being carried out by its Principal scientists in advancing inland fisheries science and service to society.
